Nigeria Clean Cooking Forum 2017

Nigeria Clean Cooking Forum 2017

The Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment and other stakeholders are organizing the Nigeria Clean Cooking Forum on November 28, 2017 at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja. The theme of the Forum is “Clean Cooking Energy for All in Nigeria – Scaling up domestic production”. The theme is in alignment with the Federal government’s policy option of promoting “Made in Nigeria” products to develop local content, create employment and empower people as well as enhance the economy.

The Nigeria Clean Cooking Forum is an important, annual gathering of stakeholders working to accelerate the production, dissemination, and use of cleaner, more efficient cookstoves and fuels. The forum will bring together key policymakers, private sector leaders, research institutions, development partners and civil society actors to commit to the goal of Clean Cooking Energy for All in Nigeria. It will support the efforts of the Federal Government to scale up domestic production of clean cooking solutions in Nigeria as well as contribute to meeting the country’s obligation in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

The one-day forum will discuss and come up with actionable steps the government can take to stimulate local production of clean cookstoves. It will examine how public awareness of LPG can contribute to strengthening the LPG market in the country. The forum will further discuss how to access financing for clean cookstoves as well as the relevance of clean cookstoves data in attracting financing. There will also be discussions about the role of standards and labelling in expanding the domestic market for clean cookstoves; promoting Safe Access to Fuels and Energy (SAFE) in the North East; and sharing of national experiences by organisations implementing clean cooking solutions.

The forum will feature an exhibition of varieties of efficient and clean cookstoves, which will take place concurrently with discussions. Further information about the forum will be shared here in the coming days.

  1. This is a well thought out initiative that would go a long way to ensure the 10 million sto vessels by 2020.
A great opportunity for those of us in the design and manufacture of Clean cook energy efficient stoves with the knowhow but lack any format of collaborative support to boost mass production.
