What motivated the conceptualization of Greenland Fati Gold Services Nig. Ltd?Green Land Fati Gold Services Nigeria Ltd was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2009 but started clean cookstoves production in 2018 with tremendous patronage from NGO’s, partner organizations and individual distributors. We produce energy efficient quality clean cookstove and fuel called “Fati Stove and briquette charcoal”. Our vision is to empower women and youths through training on energy efficient cookstoves and fuels so that they will become prospective clean cookstoves and fuel sellers. We provide energy efficient cookstoves and fuels in Nigeria so as to contribute to preserving our natural environment from deforestation, promoting healthy living, combating climate change and improving livelihoods.What does your organization seek to archive in the Nigerian cooking energy market?Our company seeks to provide solutions to the problem of inefficient cooking.  This inefficient cooking with traditional cookstoves causes a lot of ill health and increases the rate of deforestation. We strive to achieve widespread use of our clean cookstoves so as to reduce the problem of inefficient cooking to the barest minimum. That is why we provide both institutional and household multipurpose energy efficient cookstoves and strive to meet the needs of our customers.Job creation and the empowerment of women seem to be increasingly important. Our organization chairs the resource mobilization committee of the Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. We provide an advisory role in strategy development and advocacy. We also participate in concept development.   What are your biggest challenges in carrying out your activities in the sector? Our biggest challenge working in the clean cooking sector is the weak state of the sector and the inability to utilize optimally offered advice. The company has over 12 years experience in Africa, Europe, Asia, United States and Canada in the area of biofuels, solid biomass and conversion of agricultural wastes to briquettes for clean cookstoves and all forms of clean energy technologies that mitigate climate change and improve both community environment and health of community/municipal dwellers. Our vision is to bring innovation and to add value on essential commodities and service delivery. The company has over the years designed and produced different ranges of gas burners branded as MAGMA burners and are powered with cooking gas.   What does your organization seek to archive in the Nigeria cooking energy market? Our organization seeks to make MAGMA burner’s products available in the market at affordable prices. We encourage local women and stakeholders in the cooking industry to upgrade to gas through advocacy and awareness drive. We also work on expanding the scope of our network and outlets within the major markets nationwide.   Can you tell us about your clean cooking activities including your achievements? We design and produce nine (9) different types of gas burner according to market demands and feedback from consumers. We have upgraded our workshop to meet the standards and to scale up daily productions. Charles Ugwuh shares their activities in the clean cookstoves sector.   Give us a brief introduction about your organisation Tara Agro Industries Limited is an integrated rice processing mill focused on processing paddy stock to finished/polished rice and packaging same as high quality branded rice. The company is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) through the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA). It is one of the five Rice Mills established by the Federal Government in 2009/2012 through the Special Rice Intervention Scheme approved in 2008 aimed at developing high quality milling capacity. The company’s installed capacity is 42,000 tons of Paddy/year.   What does your organisation seek to achieve in the Nigeria’s cooking energy market In processing paddy, rice mills generate considerable volumes of rice husk used partly for energy generation for boilers, dryers etc. The residual rice husk is used to produce briquettes which are a viable source of low cost energy for cooking etc. Our Organisation is seeking to promote the use of these rice husk briquettes for cooking in homes at affordable cost. Until now, the rice husk constituted a major environmental hazard and ecosystem challenge.
